I'm in love haha, and can't wait to see where this goes.

I'm curious to know what the VTT version of this looks like - for better or worse, I've done a lot of character sheet development on Roll20 and would be happy to offer my services building warband management, dice rollers, etc.. there.

But just a random technical questions as I read through these rules.

What is the reason for taking 1x3 weapon vs a 3x1 weapon? I understand that's three rolls instead of one, but if the odds are consistent, isn't it just flatly better to have the option to split your attacks among multiple enemies?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00084302225562174049noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-615826467198003068.post-22805092359071318232020-11-02T11:24:33.558+00:002020-11-02T11:24:33.558+00:00Not currently, but I've got backups of the pub...Not currently, but I've got backups of the publisher documents in case I need to revert or there's sufficient demand after a big change.Chris McDowallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11717684225248546716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-615826467198003068.post-41326011035307042352020-11-01T10:36:50.287+00:002020-11-01T10:36:50.287+00:00Your thoughts on wargaming rules are very insightf...Your thoughts on wargaming rules are very insightful. But then I was waiting around with the first player that showed up, and thought, to hell with it, lets just try a 1-on-1.

And it works. Because each ruling doesn't exist in a vacuum. It relies on a good-faith relationship with your opponent to go both ways, and if they think up something complex and clever but it matches the fictional positioning, then it's in your best interest to agree or at least negotiate, because then they are more likely to do the same for you. And if they are pulling a hard-veto line on anything not in the rules, well, you can do the same to them.

And, well... it's a game. If your opponent is getting so caught up in their need to win at all costs then do you really want to be playing with them? Sometimes it's ok to take your ball and go home.Spwackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07247063374457045751noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-615826467198003068.post-64782721164060041842020-10-30T01:09:08.328+00:002020-10-30T01:09:08.328+00:00Right--that's exactly my point. Folks can work out how to break logjams in any way they want that is acceptably fair to those involved--rock/paper/scissors, "you choose this time, I decide next time," whatever.

Resolving these sorts of disagreements is part of good-faith negotiating and is something that all adults are already equipped to do, so a procedure for doing so isn't necessary--and, indeed, the presence of one in a set of rules might suggest to folks learning the game that the game expects players to (at least occasionally) come to loggerheads, which may be the wrong tone to set (in addition to being superfluous). :)Stephen Phttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10910895091122588614noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-615826467198003068.post-26031850795185223242020-10-30T00:59:40.270+00:002020-10-30T00:59:40.270+00:00I mean, you can just say - if we can't agree, ...I mean, you can just say - if we can't agree, we negotiate. If we can't reach a consensus - we flip a coin. Kinda along the lines of say yes or roll the dice.

Honestly, it all depends on the mindset of people you play with. No game is for everybody. This game is not for people who "play to win" or want to prove their superior tactics. It's for people who want to have fun with minis and tell some cool stories.Von Bednarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01137448934414564261noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-615826467198003068.post-2784727706454334482020-10-30T00:59:11.416+00:002020-10-30T00:59:11.416+00:00Honestly, even if I plan on handwaving the costs f...Honestly, even if I plan on handwaving the costs for units, I think it is good that they are there.
